Description & Location
Situated in solitude of the open sea, the northerly winds must be favorable to reach this area. Located about 5 kilometers north of Giftun Island this is a mid-sea plateau starting at 12 meters sloping down to 18 meters at the edges. Here it drops off steeply to 50+ meters. There are two ergs (pinnacles) towering on the plateau, one at either end. The entire plateau is a garden of coral, marine life, and fish that models an aquarium. The small erg is situated on the southeast side and the larger one on the northwest side.

About the Dive
The remote location in open seas offer little protection from uncooperative weather conditions. Currents underwater are normally present and moderate however, the direction is unpredictable. This site is a great dive and has lots of interesting marine life but you will have to make more than one dive to see most of the area. One option is after you enter the water from the boat, head east toward the two main ergs. Once you reach this area, start exploring around the base of both ergs in a figure eight pattern. Another option is to go between the ergs and proceed to the drop off. At the drop off, turn south with your right shoulder next to the reef. Pay close attention to your air and location, especially when currents are present. End the dive by turning into the plateau and proceed back to the moorings over the shallow coral reefs.

Reef Life & Special Interests
There are usually numerous moray eels, often free-swimming, and an excellent opportunity to see sharks along the drop-offs. Virtual forests of large black fan coral and gorgonian sea fans cloak the drop-off walls starting at the plateau boundaries. The plateau is also covered with beautiful coral formations, brilliant color, and coral arches. Fields of table coral provide a safe haven to for groupers, napoleon wrasse, sweepers, lionfish, banner fish, butterfly fish, and spotted groupers. Schools of vibrant colored goldfish crowd around the coral heads.
