  • Ma'aden resumes ammonia production, shares rise
    The Saudi Stock Exchange closed 1% higher at 7,300.34 points on Sunday amid a healthy market breadth with 115 advancing shares and 28 declining stocks. Sabic added 0.27% to hit SR92.25. Saudi Arabian Mining Company or Ma'aden (Arabic for 'metals') finished up 0.32% at SR31. Ma'aden said earlier today it resumed the production of ammonia plant operation located in the company's complex in Ras Al Khair. The productio was temporarily halted on April 29 due to 'technical difficulties'.
  • IIF sees robust growth and progress on diversification in GCC
    The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, registered an average growth of 5.8% in 2012. Growth is projected to moderate to 3.8% in 2013, due to flattening crude oil production. Growth of nonhydrocarbon sector, more representative of economic activity, is forecast to stay robust at around 5% this year, said the Institute of International Finance (IIF).
