NCC, Odfjell dissolve partnership
Saudi-based National Chemical Carriers (NCC) has agreed with Odfjell Tankers (Odfjell) to dissolve their pool of 40,000 to 45,000 dwt coated chemical tankers effective June 1. The pool, managed by the Dubai-based joint venture company NCC Odfjell Chemical Tankers (NOCT), was founded in 2009 and commenced operations in 2010. Thirteen of the ships in the pool are owned by NCC, and five ships are owned and/or controlled by Odfjell. NCC is 80% owned by Bahri and 20% by Sabic.

Qatar awards Impregilo-led consortium $2.2bn Doha metro deal
Qatar Railways Co has awarded a consortium led by Italian contractor Impregilo a €1.7bn ($2.2bn) contract to design and build a new metro line in Doha, KHL has reported. The contract for the northern red line of the underground network involves construction of a 13km line from the existing Mushaireb central station and the construction of seven new stations. It also includes the excavation of two, 6.1-metre wide parallel tunnels covering a distance of 11.6km.

Abu Dhabi to build Dhs175m bus depot
Abu Dhabi's Department of Transport (DoT) is set to launch the construction of the new Dhs175m bus depot project in the capital city, Wam has reported. The new bus depot, spanning over 10 hectares in Khalifa City A, will have facilities that accommodate up to 480 buses, providing them with fuelling, washing and maintenance services, in addition to the establishment of a building to provide integrated maintenance services capable of servicing 550 buses. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.

Oman to develop Port Sultan Qaboos for tourism
The Omani transport ministry has approved a master plan to develop the Port Sultan Qaboos as a tourism port, Oman Daily Observer has reported. The master plan includes building new terminals for the cruise liners (third generation), terminals for receiving passengers, shops and multipurpose buildings, that were designed in a way that reflects the Omani marine heritage and history. The new layout also includes hotels, yards, aisles and recreational centres. The port will retain a commercial terminal that will be dedicated for export and import services related to certain goods and emergencies.

Burj Al Arab introduces 24-carat gold iPads
Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai has introduced 24-carat gold iPads designed specifically for the luxury property and engraved with the hotel's logo for its in-house guests, Travel Weekly has reported. The iPad's can be used as a 'virtual concierge,' while information about the hotel's services will also be available alongside descriptions of restaurant and spa options and menus. "Our exclusive Burj Al Arab 24-carat gold iPads epitomise Jumeirah's philosophy of 'stay different' and further enhance our guests' experience during their stay," said the hotel's general manager, Heinrich Morio.
