Thieving at Hurghada - Saturday December 6,2008 PDF Print E-mail

This may be one piece of information you will not wish to post but I hope you do, if only to draw attention to the fact and hopefully warn whatever "authorities" there may be at Hurghada that they have thieves at work amongst their baggage handlers.

We came off the M/S Belle de l'Adriatique yesterday morning, December 6 and arrived in good time at Hurghada Airport for the flight number AMV6190 departure at 0900 to Brussels.  Plane left with short delay.

On arrival home we discovered that both padlocks on our bags had been prised open with pliers or similar instrument and the zip fasteners are now useless. Fortunately we had nothing of great value in them so only a couple of small items were stolen (pens with Belle de l'Adriatique logos) but the bags themselves are now unusable for check-in purposes.

In one of the pockets of our bags was a damaged padlock from someone else's suitcase ....so we have not been alone.

This is the kind of incident which made "Heathrow" into "Thiefrow" many years ago but it will not do your airport's reputation any good to have this activity get worse ! Doesn't improve our view of the Arab race either, sadly.
