Maersk 'certain' to double shipping rates from July

Tourist spending in Mideast hit $46.7bn in 2012
The United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has said global tourism receipts rose slightly in 2012 in the Middle East to $46.7bn from $46.2bn spent in the previous year, Gulf News has reported. International receipts per arrival averaged at $900, the report said, which is higher than the international average receipt per arrival of $860 in Europe but lower than the global average of $1,040. "It is encouraging to see that the growth in international tourist arrivals was equalled by a comparable increase in spending in spite of continued economic challenges," said the UNWTO secretary general, Dr Taleb Rifai.

Android, Windows Phone market share rise, iOS , Blackberry's decline
According to a survey by IDC, Google's Android mobile operating system gas boosted its lead in the global smartphone market over Apple in early 2013, while Microsoft's Windows edged into third place, AFP has reported. Android has captured at 75% market share in the first quarter, compared with 59.1% in the same quarter a year ago. Apple's iOS garnered 17.3% of the first quarter market share this year, including 37.4 million shipments. Unlike Android, iOS decreased its share compared to last year. Hackers target Saudi websites
The Saudi interior ministry has said that several government websites have come under attack in a campaign hackers are calling #OpSaudi, the Associated Press has reported. Most of the sites are facing distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, in which hackers flood each site with traffic until they collapse under the load. Among the targeted website are the Saudi finance ministry, General Intelligence Presidency, the ministry of foreign affairs, and the directorate general of passports, as well as sites for several major Saudi provinces, including Makkah and Jeddah.

Intel promises to be more responsive in mobile push
The new CEO of Intel Corp, Brian Krzanich has said that under his leadership the top chipmaker will be more responsive to customers in an intensified focus on the fast-growing smartphone and tablet market where it lags its rivals, Reuters has reported.
