Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has increased the metro frequency during peak hours, Emirates 24-7 has reported. While a metro would arrive at a platform every 3.5 minutes one month ago, commuters will not wait any longer than three minutes with the new frequency during peak hours, which runs from 6.30-9am, and 4.30-8pm. "We increased the Metro frequency at peak hours, because this was needed. • C&W warns Monaco business deal with Batelco could fail
Cable & Wireless Communications has said obtaining government approval for the disposal of its Monaco business is more problematic than expected, but it had options available if the sale to Bahrain's Batelco fails, Reuters has reported. Cable & Wireless already sold a 25% stake in Compagnie Monegasque de Communication, which in turns owns 55% of Monaco Telecom, to Batelco, with an option for Batelco to buy the other 75%. "We are less confident than we were (that it will be cleared), but we have plenty of options," said C&W finance director, Tim Pennington.
  • Etisalat increased bid for Maroc Tel
Etisalat has raised its bid for Vivendi's Maroc Telecom over rival Qatari bidder Ooredoo, Reuters has reported, citing two people familiar with the matter. Etisalat's bid needs further work, however, and has more legal conditions than Ooredoo's offer, so Vivendi has not yet made a final choice, the people said. "If Etisalat cleans up its offer, then it wins," said one of the sources, who is close to the process. "If not, it will go to Qatar, who also made an offer that Vivendi can accept."
