    GCC heads of traffic departments, gathered in the Saudi city of Jeddah for their 30th meeting, have approved a UAE proposal to link traffic systems across the countries of the region, Gulf News has reported.   • UK considering issuing visas to Kuwaitis on arrival
    Kuwait's foreign ministry has said that the British government is considering a request from the Kuwaiti government to waive the need for Britain-bound Kuwaitis to collect their visa from the British embassy and allowing them to get it at British airports, Kuwait Times has reported. Kuwait and some other countries have submitted joint requests, under the "Gulf Initiative," to the British government to relieve their citizens of the need to collect entry visas from British embassies, said the director of Europe Department at the ministry, Ambassador Waleed Al-Khubaizi.

    Batelco has said Sheikh Mohamed bin Isa Al-Khalifa has stepped down as group CEO and Peter Kaliaropoulos would lead operations at the telecoms operator, Reuters has reported.     Etisalat has said its Nigeria affiliate has signed a $1.2bn refinancing loan with 13 Nigerian banks, Reuters has reported. The medium-term facility will be used to refinance an existing $650m loan and bolster Etisalat Nigeria's network, Etisalat said.

    Vodafone Qatar has said its mobile base has grew by 30% year-on-year to 1,084,000 customers as at March 31, 2013, the Peninsula has reported. "To have 56% of the population using our services is a great achievement for our shareholders, staff and partners," said Vodafone Qatar's CEO, Richard Daly. Vodafone will report its financial results for the year ended March 31, 2013, following a board meeting on June 3, 2013.
