Description & Location
There are two dives sites in the north Umm Gamar. Halg Umm Gamar and the north plateau. Halg Umm Gamar is a protected bay with a wall on the south and a 60 degree slope on the north. Two deep coral blocks lie on a sandy bottom near  the center. The north plateau is known for its massive table corals and large fish.

About the Dive
If the winds are high, it is difficult to moor at this site. The boats must moor here very close to the reef making it easy to hit the reef. Currents get stronger as you go north. Start the dive by going to the deep coral blocks and then go either direction (north or south) along the reef. If you go south you will find some black coral trees worth seeing. Continue south just past a prominent crack near the reef top, and start searching for a cave at 8 meters. This is another interesting feature in this area. If you go north you want to be aware the current will spit. Be careful not to pass this point, you could easily be pushed around the corner.

Reef Life & Special Interests
A special attraction to this site are Spanish dancers, even during the day. They usually can be seen between 15 and 20 meters but also appear in shallow as 4 meters. Common fish include peacock and lunar tail groupers, orange spine and shoal surgeonfish, blue cheek butterfly fish and banner fish, they are here in schools!
